What a week in London really costs
Prices collected 19 October 2026 for travel 3 Dec–10 Dec 2026 · one traveller · 7 nights · EUR
London breaks the pattern of this table in one useful way: the expensive things are optional. The fare from Lisbon quotes at €130 to €138 depending on your dates, but most of the museums that anchor a first visit, the British Museum, the Tate and the Natural History Museum among them, charge nothing at the door. That is why a city with capital-level prices still lands at a mid-table sightseeing figure of €39 a day.
The money goes to beds and food instead. Mid-range eating runs €70 a day, and the pub is the mechanism to understand: the same room serves a €27-tier plate at lunch and a serious bill at dinner, and the gap between the two is your flexible margin. Transport adds €31 a day, capped automatically if you tap the same contactless card, so London is the city where the payment method is itself a budget tool.
From São Paulo the corridor is a different trip: €138 median, and worth reading with the booking-window advice on our flight quote guide, because a fare that size deserves more scrutiny than a two-hour hop.
